@Dril – no, they are not turned on automatically, you need to go to options -> Display -> and turn them on by hand. They change the way the world looks. Most people do not like them, the world is MUCH darker then it should be, but it adds some lighting options. Things tend to look ‘shiny’ – I have a UI that allows “night vision” and it brightens things for me. No, they are not that awesome to be honest, but I’m hoping that more kinks and bugs are found. There’s a reason they’re off by default.
@Magson – They turn my whole world pretty dark too, but profit UI has a “night vision” option that lightens things, and makes it a lot easier to see. My kerra pictured above actually IS a white kerra, but as you can tell by the screen shot, she’s more grey then anything. The only real “glitches” I have are 1. some trees are missing textures. 2. LoN picture frames and tapestries are missing textures and “glow”. Aside from that they don’t look too horrid.
I finally managed to resub; I have a few questions:
1) Are the new shaders turned on automatically?
2) What actually IS a shader? :P What does it do?
3) Are the new shaders really awesomely better than they were before?
Glad you like the new shaders. For me they turned the whole world pretty dark. Whites became grays. My high elves all looked goth or emo due to the heavy dark circles around their eyes. I ended up turning the shaders off becuz I didn’t like how the changes looked. I wasn’t having any of the reported glitches, at least…. I just didn’t like the darkening of the world or what it did to my characters’ faces. And yes, I did increase the ambient lighting. Even at max it was too dark for my taste. Hopefully I’ll like it more next time I try ;-)
I use profit also, and I completely forgot about the night vision button. Perhaps I’ll turn the shaders back on and try that. . . . .
