Decorating a Halas Home

I do plan on adding grass squares to the floor, more flowers, and a few other little bits to ‘complete’ the look, but the majority is done and I’m incredibly happy with it. I do have to admit that working with the EQ2 house layouts is a LOT of fun. It was a project I wanted to get into. If you’re interested the first thing you should do is pick up the layout editor that a player has created. This is a program you can use (and there are tutorials to explain all about it) to do the mathematical calculations involved in moving an item from say, the floor, to the wall. It took me a bit to figure it out, considering I’m not the most mathematically inclined, but now that I have the hang of it, I’m really loving it.

Faeble is now level locked at 29. I’ve been working on alternate advancement, and have managed to get 46 so far. I also decided that playing a conjurer wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do, so I am going to betray over to a necromancer. It suits my play style more and I don’t think the little fae will be too out of place living in Neriak or Freeport instead of Halas. Actually I’ll probably have her move to Gorowyn once I’m done the betrayal process. Yesterday I spent time working through the lower level dungeons like Ruins of Varsoon, Fallen Gate, and then a few instances like Nektulos Castle. I haven’t worked on gear for the character yet, but that will come with time. I also haven’t set foot into a battleground yet with the little fae, but again, with time.

I’m having quite a bit of fun now that I’m back to playing (even if it is only with a lower level character) but I find myself missing raids lately. I haven’t raided seriously since the beginning of RoK (Kunark) and I think I’d like to get back into it. The key part for me is finding a guild that A) is EST, and B) doesn’t act like a group of jerks. Harder then it sounds. I haven’t decided if I should begin this search on Oasis or Antonia Bayle, but hopefully something will come through. I also have to find a guild that doesn’t mind me having not raided for a while. Sure, I did a lot of The Shadow Odyssey raids, but I’ve only done a few of the Sentinel’s Fate raids, and I don’t think I’ve done any of them on hard mode. I’m hoping to find a guild that will benefit either from my mystic (who is at least sporting a few pieces of red slot gear) or my coercer, both of which are on Antonia Bayle but who I’d be willing to transfer. Then there’s also my fury on Oasis. I do have a number of other level 90 characters (dirge, troubador, paladin, just to name a few) but those are the three who are my ‘top’ characters to play.

Whether or not I’ll actually succeed in finding a guild I’ve no idea. I am not exactly as involved as I could be in the game, and while I personally feel that I know my characters quite well and play them well, that may not actually be the case to someone else.

Introducing Faeble

I vowed a while ago that I’d stop deleting characters, mostly because I was deleting high level characters to create new characters on a whim and then deciding I actually wanted those high level characters back. Well, I had two characters that I barely touched that were mostly power leveled and that I decided to delete. Not any of my level 90s (crafter nor adventurer) but my ranger and my monk, both of which I won’t miss that much. The reason? Well I wanted to explore Halas from the new characters point of view – and I also learned that you can now do battlegrounds from level 20+ which was something that I had no idea about.

I decided to create a conjurer, I’ve had one before who I betrayed over to a necromancer. I even had her get to level 80 in sage but she was an ancient character who was far behind in almost every aspect of the game, especially alternate advancement. I deleted her probably a year ago. Anyhow, I decided to create this new character, and start them off in Halas. The quests are quite fun and I absolutely love the look of the gear (pictured above). I do play on both Oasis and Antonia Bayle, but decided I’d create my new character on Oasis (which is where the majority of my characters are) because I didn’t want to deal with the throngs of people who I knew would be roaming Halas on AB (a far more populated server). A little odd of me perhaps but it worked out well I think.

I’ve turned off her experience and set her to 100% alternate advancement so that I can use her as a battleground character. I don’t have the faintest idea what rewards a level 20 would obtain, but I’m excited about it. I’d like to get her as many alternate advancement points as I can first and a nice set of gear before diving into the battlegrounds, but we’ll just have to see how that goes.

Trying to get Back into the Groove

Me and EQ2 have been taking a little break from one another. A vacation, if you will. It’s nothing new, every year we decide we’ve seen too much of one another and I wander on to some other amusement park while EQ2 continues to entertain those around me. I get a little jealous, but I shrug it off. We’ve been doing this for a long time now, and both of us know it’s not permanent and that I’ll come crawling back, I always do.

Yesterday I decided that I wanted to try to test the waters and see if I was ready to come back, there’s plenty for me to work on. I haven’t even finished the quests in Lavastorm from the previous expansion let alone made a dent in Sentinel’s Fate, or even ventured into Halas more then purchasing a home. There’s crafters who need leveling, and a lot of achievements to be had. Of course the very first difficult decision I had was WHO to play! That’s always my hardest decision in any of my games because I’ve had alts for almost as long as I’ve been gaming. I started out with my fury who I’ve mentioned before is my favorite character (personally) but I find difficult to play because everyone and their dog plays a druid and thus there’s no real desire for one. Especially in Sentinel’s Fate where druids make fantastic healers for their quick casting group heals over time. I eventually ended up spending the evening just bouncing around from character to character which was not bad, it gave me a feel for all of the characters again and maybe when I load up the game today I’ll have a more definitive idea of who I want to play.
