As always, I bounce around through the summer and then settle right where I left, which in this case, is World of Warcraft. I’m multiboxing 5 accounts, making gold, and have no clear goal in mind. I’m thinking of boosting a warrior because I’ve always wanted one, and we’ll just see from there!
Pictured above is my latest obsession, the textile section of ‘foundation’ a game I recently picked up on the summer steam sale. Well, my husband picked it up for me as a gift.
If you’ve ever played Banished before then you will already be familiar with how to play Foundation, because the two play almost similarly. So far the main differences (besides graphics) is that in foundation your town acts more like a town, you train soldiers and can send them out on missions (I’ve lost a few townsfolk that way so far) and there’s more ‘stuff’ at the base game. For Banished I found I needed to have mods to expand the base gameplay.
This game IS in early access, and has been for some time, but it’s a fun little play especially since it’s on sale right now. I’m hoping that it continues to be developed, I’ve been burned by early access games in the past. In the meantime, I feel like I’m at least getting my monies worth from it so far. The graphics are cute (and detailed) and so far at least there isn’t a lot of ‘bad’ going on. I’m not sure if that’s because of a setting some place or what, but it makes for good casual gaming where I can just sit and watch the world grow.
I’m on the last part of my shawl, which is two alternating rows of a 4 stitch lace repeat. It’s easy enough to memorize, but the stitches are tricky to pick up with my wooden needles, and there’s over 400 stitches so it takes quite a bit of time to get a single row done. Right now I’ve just started row 4/30. I’m also working with silk which has its own issues (like being even more slippery, being thick and thin, and some splitting). I’m hoping it will add a long luxurious ruffle to this shawl once it’s completed.
The thing with lace is that it’s always difficult to see how it’s going and what the pattern will look like until you’ve actually finished the piece and blocked it. Before that point it just looks like a mushed up collection of yarn. I’m liking the two colours together more now than before, and I can actually pick out the mosaic pattern better. Here’s hoping the rest of this shawl doesn’t take too long. Saturday is the start of Tour de Fleece, and I’m hoping to get a sweaters worth of spinning done – we’ll just have to see.
The name of the blog has changed, but I’m still here, 14 years later. I can honestly say that not a single thing is the same as it was 14 years ago – except – the games I’m playing. I played EverQuest, EverQuest II, WoW, EVE, and I still bounce around those games today. Nostalgia, it’s a hell of a drug.
In 14 years I’ve moved 7 times. I’ve lived in three provinces. I left a 12 year relationship. I got married. I had two kids. I’ve taught myself to knit, crochet, spin, and play guitar. I started teaching myself coding. I started going to school for victim services coordinator. I’ve seen a pandemic, and protests. I’ve seen some good things in the world – and bad. I’ve made amazing friends, and I’ve lost some amazing friends too.
I still love video games but my time is far more precious to me than it used to be, and scarce. I thought back before kids that I “had no time for anything” – turns out I had ALL the time. I truly didn’t realize it. I still enjoy blogging as much as ever but it tends to fall by the wayside. I AM still here though.
Hopefully, for 14+ more.
A hung hem! Completed, and it looks fantastic. I’m so proud of myself! If only the heel had of turned out. Thankfully I looked into it, and I’m pretty sure I know exactly what I did wrong. Here’s hoping attempt #3 goes better.
