Everfrost Beauty

Just two screenshots of Everfrost I had that I adore so much. The zone is just so fantastic since the revamp. I’m excited to see what changes with Lavastorm once that one is completed. I always thought it was a shame that the original Shattered Lands was not used as much as it should be because it was simply out dated.

Ding! Obelisk of Blight, Crypt of Valdoon, and Mistmoore Castle

Last night started off with the defiler hitting level 77. Not too shabby since when I moved her to the new server she was only 74. Not exceptionally fast either, but I haven’t been trying to level her (and I’ve been gaining a whole lot of debt in the process through very fun means).  There were the usual culprits on in guild, trusty shadowknight and crazy conjuror, so we headed to Unrest to lay waste to the zone again. It was exceptionally fun though I doubt anyone who was with us would have thought so. We ran through the zone on multiple attempts angering everything we possibly could and then testing to see if we’d live. Most of the time, we did not. Especially when The Bugaboo would come charging at us. No idea how that happened (shifty eyes).

We did finish the zone though. Afterwards we headed to the Crypt of Valdoon in Loping Plains and took care of some vampires. The group had to split shortly after but it was still a lot of fun. Later on the shadowknight was headed to Castle Mistmoore to get his first mythical update. For some reason to even begin this quest he needed a page off of a floor in the room past the underwater tunnel (in the jail). Confusing? Yeah. We managed to duo our way up the back staircase from the Catacombs and after a few close calls, he got his update. I suggested duoing Mayong in Mistmoore Inner Sanctum which is the first ‘official’ update he needed, but we decided to stop there for now.

Once the shadowknight left to get some well deserved sleep I was still awake, and a few more people had logged on in guild. Another resident conjuror (who plays a bruiser as a main) asked if I’d be interested in trying to duo Obelisk of Blight in Lesser Faydark. Sure why not. The zone was slow (due to lack of dps) but it was fun. We had two deaths, and while nothing of any real value dropped, a good time was had by all. He also managed to ding 73, and I learned to appreciate tank pets all the more.

It’s interesting to watch how things change from server to server. On Najena, the daily shard mission that you pick up in the Moors of Ykesha is called the “DD” (daily double) where as on Kithicor, it’s called the MoTD (mission of the day). Some of the conversations never change no matter what server you’re on. The prices on Kithicor are insane and I’ve come to realize I’ve been spoiled on Najena where the population is a good deal bigger then it is on Kithicor. Not big differences, but these smaller ones that I’ve been taking note of.

I didn’t get any time to play my coercer or LoTRO – but I should have some time today. The coercer is sitting comfortably at level 61, and I’m eager to nudge her closer to 80.

Hope everyone has an amazing day.

LoTRO: Day 3

I did manage to get a little more time in LoTRO this weekend, which was nice. Not nearly as much time as I had wanted, but I’m still learning and meandering my way around. The quests I’d gotten were much the same they are in any ‘mainstream’ mmo, go kill x number of y creatures, or loot x number of y items, or go talk to random_npc_101. Things along those lines. While this may seem like a ‘grind’ and it’s not ‘new’ that’s fine by me. I enjoy these type of quests, I’m familiar with them. I don’t mind ‘grinds’ in the least bit. I can stand for hours in one location killing the same things over and over and it doesn’t bother me. I suppose it comes from camping items in EQ1, specifically those rogue clicky masks to add to my collections. I actually miss the way EQ1 groups would go, where instead of constantly roaming through a zone you’d find a ‘camp’ and park yourself and your group there for a while. In EQ2 you are never standing still, you’re constantly on the go, and moving. These camps are not around any more.

So I killed boars for meat, wolves, a spy. I gathered together some plants and that’s where I learned that you have a ‘quest’ bag where that sort of stuff gets dumped into, and not your inventory. WAR works much the same way, and I love that. In other games I’m always cranky when my bags get filled up with quest objects and I can’t actually loot anything any more and then I’m not sure what to delete.

I looted a few furs off of a wolf that says they’re able to be used in crafting though I haven’t the slightest idea how to start crafting, what it intails, what sort of crafting there is or if it’s even useful. I’m hoping that it gets explained to me some where along the way.

So far nothing has been overly difficult. I realize I’m still very low level (I’m level 5 now) but it’s been nice to play here and there and not feel overwhelmed. I have seen a few people running around, and I’m enjoying taking my time to learn the mechanics. Where as in EQ2 I tend to rush by everything because I’ve already done it quite a few times now.

I haven’t had any issues with the game running so far, I did turn down some sound aspects (npc’s talking is great, but their voice was booming out at me louder then anything else) and I’ve changed some of my key bindings. We’ll see how it goes the more I play! Hopefully I can meet up with some friends there and we’ll see how it goes.

Visiting Lucan D’Lere and the Moors of Ykesha (again)

The coercer is resting comfortably at level 61, and part way into it so yesterday I decided it would be a good time to get the defiler started on the Moors of Ykesha quest chain. Grouped up with Wpus from guild, we set out to complete at least the first quest hub worth, so that I could move on to the ‘meat’ of the content. I’ve already done all of these quests on various other characters, so none of it was new, but having a duo to take them down with was a lot more fun – especially with the lack of dps on my little healer girl.

By the time all was said and done I’d made a good chunk of coin and managed to get to 81% through my level. Not too bad considering I’d already dinged 76 the night before in Nizara. The only thing I dislike about the Moors quests is that they reward more coin then anything at all so there are very few gear upgrades. I suppose that makes sense when you think that TSO did not raise the level cap, so most people should already be sporting gear from the RoK zones. I’ve managed to (thankfully) avoid most of the quest grinding that goes on in RoK, the defiler has the sokokar posts in Fens of Nathsar and Kunzar Jungle, but has done relatively few quests. It makes for an interesting time when most of the locations she visits are still all agro.

I meant to get a little crafting in, but alas that did not happen, maybe today.

I’m eager to see the next game update get implemented, though I’m torn between everyone else’ comments about the changes. It’s one of those wonderful things with MMO’s, their ever evolving and changing worlds. I don’t typically make too much of a fus, and just sort of roll with whatever happens.

I’m contemplating starting (yet another) alt on Kithicor, so that I can work up a transmuter. Kasul has been leveling one on Najena, and hearing about his adventures with the shards and powders makes me cringe in fear – but it’s a good skill to have on at least one character. I enjoy being able to make my own adornments. Not owning them certainly doesn’t make or break the game, but the whole ‘self sufficient’ aspect comes into play.

Hopefully everyone had an amazing weekend, I’m looking forward to reading about all of the fun that went on!

Unrest and Nizara Bite the Dust

The night started innocently enough. I was a little worn out from leveling the coercer in New Tunaria (she managed to hit level 60, and is 4% away from 61) and was standing around the guild hall when Wpus asked if I’d be interested in helping him and Ultann out in City of Mist on my 75 defiler. Sure! Why not. I loved CoM in Eq1 and while it’s not the same (at all) in EQ2, it still brings back memories. The night was off to a great start as Wpus sacrificed himself time and time again to the great iron golems in order for me and Ultann to have a few laughs. That’s what I figured in any case. Updates were gotten and then the two looked at me, an evil grin on their face.

“So, want to do an instance?”

Sure! What instance? Are we going to fill out the group?

Turned out that these two had spent some time trying to duo Unrest, “they” consist of a conjuror and a shadowknight. Being a defiler, I’d even out the group with tank dps and heals. While my two guild mates are level 80, I was still only 75, and still sporting adept1 of a few things until I got upgrades at 80. None the less, we seemed to be in the mood for a challenge, so the trio headed to Unrest.

It was a blast. We pulled entire rooms and the mobs within the zone quaked in fear at our finesse. Ok, maybe not. In fact I actually died so many times I had to repair. We didn’t take anything seriously though and I still have the laughter ringing in my ears as I charged after The Bugaboo while I left the two of them there with a full encounter of ghosts on their hands.

Ah, good times.

We actually beat the zone, and then they looked at me again, and said those words I longed to hear – “What about Nizara?”

This was actually a zone I still feared on the defiler who had never been. Once again we mended and head off – and cleared out the entire zone just the three of us, including the x4 epic and the x2 epic, and even the final named. I only died four times which was slightly disappointing, I had expected better.

This whole experience was completely new to me. Laughing and kidding around and chattering. Taking down encounters with a less-then-optimal group. It was one of those rare nights I won’t soon forget in my gaming history and I thank everyone involved, especially the members of Eclipse.

I meant to get a little LoTRO time in, but haven’t yet. I have some chores to take care of today and some writing to do and then hopefully I can play for a bit. There’s so much to do as of late. I love it.

Have a fantastic Sunday no matter what you’re up to.
