The cleric is level 45 (woohoo) and I’m slowing down a bit in my leveling because I’m a little bored of the quest grind. I’ve been working on harvesting, doing the few dailies I have (mostly crafting dailies) and hunting shinies. I participate in the Rift invasions I see going on to earn planarite and Ancient Sourceshards but aside from that things are pretty quiet in game. I was happy to hit 45 so that I could open the bags I had been carrying around on my character for a while but was left a little disappointed with the rewards. I got one green shoulder armor piece and a blue one (which was an upgrade but just barely). I haven’t seen an artisan’s plaque for almost a week now despite doing everything I can in order to earn them.

I wish I had exciting stories to tell about my time in Rift, but it’s been a little drab. I’m hoping once I hit 50 I’ll have more stories to tell about my adventures in T1/T2 and maybe even some expert Rifts, but for now things revolve around the quest / rift grind to 50, and I don’t see that changing in the next five levels.

So, happy gaming! No matter where you find yourself.

  1. For me I generally don’t feel like I’m “quest grinding” until I’ve been in a zone for a while. When I 1st get there it’s all shiny and new, but after about 40 quests or so, I’m ready for a change of scenery. In spite of this, the completion-demon inside me tries really hard to force me to finish every quest in a zone before moving on, so I tend to slog it out, get a little burned out for a bit and slow my playing and then come back a day or 3 later with “new eyes.”

As a result of all this completionism, I was already level 47 when I got to Stillmoor on my cleric, and the trip to 50 finished before the quest chains even took me to Zareph’s Return. And then just as I hit 50, several friends started playing, so I rolled new low level toons to play with them. I think I’ve logged in my cleirc maybe 3 times since hitting 50, and only 1 time was to actually play her (doing dailies in IPP). I’ve never done an Expert dungeon, nowhere close to being able to afford even my 4th role, much less a 110% mount.

That said, I am having a blast in the lower levels with my friends. They’ve even got me doing warfronts with them, which I’m fairly ambivalent about since they’re no-consequence battles, but they’re kinda fun though not over and over and over and over and over and over and over again like we did Sunday night. I actually started declining the “you’re at the front of the queue!” notifications to stay out. And this was with a 9-1 win/loss ratio too . . . .
