A frequent question I get is – why bother tracking my earnings. Especially now that I have my Brutosaur. There are a few answers I have, but honestly the main reason is just because I find it fascinating. Making gold in world of warcraft is just plain fun. I like knowing what I’m spending, where gold is going, and where it’s coming from. It’s a great sense of accomplishment for me to see the graphs and charts and earnings.

I love doing break downs of sales over months and seeing where the trends are. Lately, I haven’t had a lot of time for this which makes me sad. I’m not a huge fan of crafting in BFA, which is a bit of a shame because I’ve loved it in all of the previous expansions. Working faction for each crafter so that they can purchase rank 3 of their patterns was just a complete turn off to me – and the fact that some crafting tools of the trade are necessary (alchemy I’m looking at you) while others are completely negligible bothers me. Crafting could be so much more if the developers just put some time into it.

I started out very small. I just crafted. Sold those crafts. I did this for many years, and I was content with it. I was never a huge auction house player, I had no idea about flipping, and I sure didn’t consider myself a goblin. I didn’t know there was a robust community centered around it, and I didn’t know that I actually had a talent for making gold. Learning all of that came after, and it took time. It took me about a year to figure out how to use TSM properly, and during that time my husband was gone to depot with the RCMP for 6 months and I was home with our 1 year old and pregnant with our 2nd. It gave me some direction and motivation though, I wanted to have something I found fun to do in my evening hours alone.

All it takes is a bit of motivation and some work to reach any gold making gold you set for yourself. Putting in the time and having patience with yourself is some of the hardest parts, but I promise you, making gold is not magic. Anyone can do it. Some are a bit more able to ‘predict’ (I use the term loosely) the market on their server – but that does come with time, so if making gold is something you have a passion for, stick with it. You’ll get there.
