Unlocking Sims 4 Rewards

Screenshot-53

I continue to play my legacy family in the Sims 3, despite the fact that the family has lost their dog (and I placed their horse up for adoption). Tristan is growing up happy and healthy, and because of a great upbringing he has managed to earn himself the good, genius, and computer whiz traits. Even though he’s still a youth I sent him off to learn about inventing, and I think he may even go to university at this rate.

Of course his father, M.D. Little, may not live to see him get that far in life if the screenshot above is any indication. He has taken a liking to playing with fire, while the maid runs in to save him from the flames.

I saw on a Sims 3 banner that you can unlock rewards in Sims 4 based on the expansions you own in Sims 3. Pretty awesome and of course I had to look into it and see what I qualified for. I am so very excited about Sims 4. That’s probably why I have been spending so much time in Sims 3 lately. I’m hoping they have enough generic content from the get-go to keep me interested, it has been ages since I’ve played a ‘basic’ sims game without all of the expansions, and I’m wondering how much I will miss things like pets and vacations. I suppose we’ll just have to see!

The Ultimate
Freezer Bunny Award
Your adventures in The Sims 3 have earned you the grandest of all reward statues: Llama, the Freezer Bunny, and Plumbob. Who could ask for more?

As if it wasn’t Monday Enough..

Screenshot-50See that black rock over by my pond that’s frozen over as a skating rink in the sims 3? It’s a giant meteor that fell from the sky, and landed in my families back yard. See that giant ball of flame on the far left hand side? That.. is my family dog.

It was as though the universe was trying to tell me “Hey look, it’s Monday. Have another reason not to like Monday’s.” – it’s also probably the funniest thing I have ever seen in game. My legacy sim (Jessica Little) was out minding her own business, skating around the pond when she looked up to the sky and BAM a giant rock fell and landed on Mr. Boots Little.

I spent the entire afternoon playing Sims 3 once my chores were done (remember, I work night shift) and it was a blast. I revamped the entire legacy house a few times (keeping on the same lot, of course) and the family is doing well. Little Tristan is a youth now, Daisy was given up for adoption (that’s the horse) and Lilia the kitty is aging gracefully though I still find her in the toilet. Often.

Although the family lost Mr. Boots, they did gain a giant meteor that sold for $27,000 and that greatly improved the quality of life for the Little family. Tristan was able to grow up in a nurturing household, and M.D. Little has aged to elder and should be kicking off any day now. Not that I’m keeping my fingers crossed for that, of course not, it would be cruel.

I’m hoping to get a few more generations of my legacy family all grown up before Sims 4 comes out and I lose all interest (I doubt I’ll lose ALL interest, after all I have so many expansions and addons for Sims 3..) but we’ll just have to see how it goes. All in all, it was a lovely break away from ‘real’ people, and I’m continuously surprised by the little details that I have still never seen each time I play (like that meteor.. never seen that before in any of my games).

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

The Legacy Continues

Screenshot-42

I had to reformat my computer when I moved – not once, not even twice, but THREE times. This meant that all my hard earned progress on my legacy family in the sims 3 was lost, multiple times. Since I adore this game of course I just picked myself right back up and started over, again (this time with backups).

Jessica Little is my founder sim, and she decided that the straight and narrow life was just not for her, so her profession is a thief. It works well with her kleptomaniac behaviour. Right now her rank is ‘decoy’ – and she has already been thrown in jail. Her job profession enabled her to meet MD – a police officer. It was love at first sight, and the two got married before their first date was over. Hey, when you’re in love, you’re in love.

Jessica gave birth to little Tristan, who is about to turn two years old. Their house is also compromised of Llia, their cat, Mr. Boots, their dog, and Daisy, their horse. Animals lovers? You don’t say.

They were getting pretty low on money, Jessica’s job doesn’t exactly pay that well and MD had just joined the family when low and behold an enormous amount of good luck befell them – they won the lotto for $50,000. This went a LONG way in upgrading their home, and it was a lot of fun. Normally my legacy families have so little cash that their home is a shack for much of their lives. It was a lot of fun to be able to purchase some opulent belongings.

Of course the day wouldn’t been complete without a Feast Party (the Sims world version of Halloween) and someone falling asleep on the floor..

Lets Open a Bakery

Screenshot-19The Sims 3 is still one of my favourite games, and I am incredibly excited about Sims 4 releasing this year (hopefully). I was browsing through their online store yesterday and happened to notice a new special venue for sale, a bakery. It came with a building, some special ovens, and the ability to set up a bakery from your home, or to purchase the bakery property in town and set up shop there. There are a few issues if you try to set up your home as a bakery, like the fact that no one will come to the shop unless you’re having a party, or you mod it a bit to allow visitors on the property. I haven’t been playing with mods yet since I reinstalled, so for now I just have it available when I throw parties. A little extra money is always nice.

I did also hire a cashier just to test it out which was pretty neat.

So how is my legacy sim doing? Well. She hasn’t found a husband yet which is sad because the whole point of a legacy family is to grow through 10 generations. So far she has a cat, a dog, used to own a bird (I sold it to afford the new bakery) and is quite happy surrounding herself with animals. They’re better than people, that’s what her thoughts on that matter are! Her kitten, Sugar, is about to turn into an adult, and she adopted Tiffany, an adult collie. For now she still works at the fortune teller’s wagon in town, but I hope to move that business to the home eventually, where she can run her fortune telling business AND a bakery. I have plans of purchasing the bakery building one day, and running it as a family business but those dreams are far into the future.

Enter the Butler #TS3 #TheSims3

Screenshot-498It has been a little while since I played The Sims 3, but I still love it as much as ever. There were a lot of free items given away over the holidays, and I dutifully logged in each day to make sure I claimed them. They were worth anywhere from 400 to 700 sim points, so they were some pretty nice items. I picked up the latest expansion as well as the latest venue and world (the one that includes the roller coaster) and have been having a lot of fun with both. Of course my legacy family doesn’t get to play with those quite yet, so where is what they have been up to.

When we last left the family, it consisted of Mushi the cat, Teddygirl the boy (who was named during my Extra Life fundraising campaign), Blesse (wife) and Jack (older gentleman that she married). Jack got up to feed the family goldfish and passed on, while his family freaked out. I was expecting this, Jack was pretty old when he married Blesse and it was only a matter of time. I moved his gravestone to the backyard, and now his ghost haunts the house.

I decided that since Blesse was now a single mother and had a lot on her plate with work and Teddygirl, I would hire a live-in butler. These costs $1200 a week (if only) and require a room with a bed in your house. I added a room for her in the basement, and now Tashia lives with everyone. Clothing was starting to pile up and my shower and toilets have all broken multiple times now, so it’s nice to have a pair of extra hands to deal with all that stuff.

Teddygirl also decided to become a scientist. He wants to become a robot breeder in specific, but any career in the science department would be a good start. Blesse is still a middle school teacher, although she did get a promotion for telling the principle that another teacher was sleeping while her students watched movies all day. This did not earn Blesse any bonus points with those teachers, and now they’re all angry at her. Oh well!

As always the point of the legacy family is to get as many generations up as I can, so next I’ll be looking for a suitable partner for Teddygirl. Hopefully someone who doesn’t mind his name too much.

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!
