Steam Game

Finding my Star Team

I’m still trying to grind my way through hard mode in Dragon Cliff, but I’ve come up against a bit of a wall. I need better gear, and better characters. Once you unlock ancient it’s a waiting game with RNG to see when you’ll get the next tier, called ‘star’. I’ve only unlocked a handful, and I need many more. Until then I’ve just been grinding.

Still, it’s the best $5 I’ve ever paid for an idle game. I think I have over 100 hours into the game now, and it was well worth the price of entry.

Steam Sale Additions..

Normally a steam sale happens and I don’t end up getting anything at all. Whether it’s because the games I really want are actually not discounted, or because there’s just nothing that piques my interest, this time was different.

I went in with a budget, stuck to it, and walked away with 7 new games (8 if you count Dragon Cliff, the idle game I wrote about previously). I’m pretty excited about everything from my list, they’re all games I know I will enjoy (to varying degrees) and all games I’ve wanted for quite some time. I decided instead of splurging on a really expensive game, I’d take a look at my list and purchase some of the less-expensive (but still highly anticipated) things I wanted.

Garden Paws in particular I’ve been eyeballing for a while because a few friends play it and spoke highly of it. Whether or not I actually manage to carve out any time to play, well, we’ll have to see.

Happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

A Place for Idle Games

My latest game fancy is a game called Dragon Cliff – and it’s an idle game on steam. That means it’s mostly hands off, something that you can leave running while you do other things. This one is a ton of fun and you can be as hands on or off as you want.

You have a town, you have some adventurers, you can craft, send them out to fight things, auto fight, return home with all the loot. There are areas that are locked until you level up, you want to try to have your minions get a bit stronger (of course) and it’s just incredibly addictive. It’s silly, since you don’t actually DO a lot, but it gives you a sense of accomplishment when your gaming time may be restricted or interrupted by say, two young children.

I think there’s a definite place for games like these. They might be silly, but they let you remember that you’re a gamer when you may not have the energy to actually dive in. This is important. It might not take a lot of skill per say to play these games, but it’s something I can leave up and running, step away from instantly, and still feel as though I’ve done something gaming related.

It’s also a great price point, $5 CAD – if you enjoy idle games at all I highly suggest checking this one out and if you’ve never played one before this is a great opportunity at not much cost.

Hours Upon Hours

There are very few games out there that I have played as long as I have played Wurm Unlimited (Wurm Online would probably surpass) and I always wonder if that’s a good thing or not. It’s great that I’ve found a game that constantly captures my attention, with a community that can rarely be beat (granted the community also comes and goes in waves, Wurm is not for the faint of heart, even in the Unlimited version) the problem my nomadic gaming lifestyle is not constructive to a game like Wurm.

If you log out your animals die, and if you continue to avoid the server you could lose your entire deed. This helps free up land for newcomers, but it’s also condition on current players that can potentially cause stress. Thankfully the GMs for the specific server that I play on are understanding in these cases, and they grant players a variety of days (depending on how developed the deed is) before it disbands.

I have tried over the years to quit playing, to give up and let my deed disband (it has, once) but I always end up returning. It’s probably the best $5 I’ve ever spent, there were some sales where it dropped down to $1, and for 4,000 hours of gameplay, I certainly have no complaints.

Happy Birthday To Me

Today I dinged, level 38. It feels a lot like 37. I don’t mind leveling up at all, my 30s have been so much better than my 20s, and I’m proud of the life I have.

I did get some awesome gifts. My good friend Moumix bought me Farming Simulator 2019 which I have had on my wishlist since it came out. I’m so excited to give this a try.

I also decided to spoil myself and bought Anno 1800 on steam before they remove the sales and it goes to the Epic Launcher as an exclusive. They are accepting payment until release, which I thought was neat to see. It doesn’t make much of a difference to me which platform I play it on, but I do like trying to keep most of my games in one place.

Anno releases the 16th, and I’ve never played any of the series before, but I did spend some time watching videos on it. I can’t wait to dive in.

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.
