Sims 3

Singing, Snow, and.. Dog Pee. #TS3 #TheSims3

Screenshot-32Today another ‘stuff’ pack came out for The Sims 3, this time representing the 70-80-90’s.  I normally stay away from those mini expansions, they rarely offer me anything I actually want unless they are discounted heavily.

My sims family has been doing well. The twin girls are still away at school, the dogs are barking at everything under the sun (and moon) and peeing all over the floor. I’ve been trying to reinforce NOT doing that (you can scold them) but so far neither dog seems to want to give up the “piggy” trait.

It’s winter time now, which means a lot of snowball fights, snowmen, and playing in the snow. I haven’t ventured down to the festival yet, but I will. I also haven’t used the cheat to get more money for my family, although I’d really like to because their house is quite tiny.  As soon as I sent the girls away to school I converted their bedroom into an office. If they come home any time soon they’ll have to sleep on the couch, or in the shower or something.

I also noticed that if my sim uses the computer there’s an “online dating” section. I haven’t tried it yet, but you can add your profile, read other peoples profiles, and edit your profile. Each time I play the game I seem to stumble into something that I didn’t realize was there.

A bunch of my friends had started to play, and I was looking forward to reading a bunch of sims 3 stories, but so far there have been relatively few (yes, this is a nudge, get writing). My sim ended up casting a fire spell on a paparazzi who was hanging around outside the house, and they turned into a giant ball of flame and then a blackened ball of  ash. It was amusing to say the least. It’s always an exciting time in the household because the female character is a witch, and the male is a werewolf. The twin girls are also supernaturals. Each time a full moon comes around the male sim starts howling and turns into a bristling creature. The dogs of the house (Otis and Taylor) both freak out, probably wondering what that weird smell is.

Still, when I’m feeling anti social and don’t relish the idea of playing an MMO, The Sims 3 is my go-to game. It’s hilarious, comfortable, and barely takes any attention since I can just put everyone on high choice and let them do their thing.

What’s one of your favorite aspects of The Sims 3? Let me know in comments! As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.

A Season For Everyone #TS3 #TheSims3

Screenshot-33I’ve been having a lot of fun with the Sims 3 as of late. When black Friday came around I ended up picking up all of the expansions I was missing and now there are just a few ‘stuff’ packs that I don’t own. Sure I don’t NEED all of the expansions but it feels nice to have a ‘complete’ collection.

One of my favorite expansions is by far Seasons. It adds so much to the game. There’s a local festival that opens every season with a lot of games and fun to be had. Each season also adds unique features to the game – like snow. You can build snowmen or snow angels and there’s costumes for Halloween and just so much other fun.

I haven’t “cheated” in game yet to give my sim family unlimited coin, but it’s something I often think about because lets face it, having unlimited coin means you quite literally get to do whatever you want. Don’t want to work? No problem. Want to play in the World Adventures expansion and go exploring in Egypt or France? By all means, please do! Plus there’s something to be said for building the house of your dreams. My sim family gets no such luxuries. My family (so far) is compromised of a husband and wife with twin girls, Jessica and Emily. The girls were sent off to boarding school when they were of age. Emily headed off to Dribbledine Sports Academy, and Jessica headed to Le Fromage Art School. I’ve never actually sent my sims children to boarding school before, but it works exactly like you’d think. You send them away and then you don’t have to control them in the household any more, they do their own thing and come back when they’re all grown up. If you want a large family but don’t want to have to control every action everyone does their entire life, this may be an option for you. Of course that also means when the girls do return from school they’ll be strangers to me. You can have them return home at any time you would like, but for now I’ve left mine at school until they get their degree. I imagine they’ll complete when they’re almost adults and then when my main sims pass on the girls can take over in the story.

My ‘main’ character is a writer (I know, not very unique considering that’s what I’ve always dreamed of doing) and is working on a novel called “Marshmellow Massacre” – I’m sure it will be a best seller.

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

A Little WurmOnline, NaNoWriMo, Sims 3, EQ2, and WoW

I made my 50,000 words for this months NaNoWriMo, but it was a very difficult run. I would start a story, get interested with it, get bored of it, and then write a new story. I even gave up for a week or two. After some consideration I decided there was no reason for me to give up and so I started again. I’m very glad that I did. I’m not really sure why this year was so difficult compared to others, it was my 5th year attempting it so there really no surprises, but it seemed like everything hit this month, and I really felt it so maybe that’s why.

Of course in between writing I still played games. Wurm Online being my main choice these days as far as MMOs go – but I’ve also decided to pop back into WoW now that 5.1 has come out. I’ve been playing a little EQ2 (have you seen the incredible new house they added that’s a ship? Much love) and I’ve been playing some single player games like Sims 3. During the black Friday sale EA had some fantastic deals on their Sims franchise, so I picked up the last expansion I was missing, and now all I’m missing are three “stuff” packages that I don’t exactly care about getting. The base game was going for as low as $9 which was really great to see.

TODAY is the last day to register for the 2012 Gamers Secret Santa. I’ve gotten over 150 replies so far from interested parties, and I’m really happy that people are still interested in this. I’m also doing a card exchange this year, so if you’re interested in exchanging your address for that, please email me!

What has everyone else been up to this month? It feels like it went by so quickly! Before we know it, Christmas will be here!

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself!

The Month of Gaming Stuff #EQ2 #EQ #VGD #TS3 #Riftgame

Not only is NaNoWriMo going on this month (which I have been failing at, horribly), I’ve opened registration for this years Gamers Secret Santa, Rift released Storm Legion, Sims 3 released Seasons, EQ2 released Chains of Eternity, EQ1 is releasing Rain of Fear, Vanguard is releasing City of Brass, Planetside 2 is releasing, and that doesn’t even begin to touch on the other console games that came out this month like Halo 4.

What a month to be a gamer, hmm?

Sims 3 – Supernatural #Sims3 #TS3

This weekend I spent most of my game time playing The Sims 3 – and I didn’t really mean to but it was a lot of fun. When I was looking at expansions I noticed Supernatural but wasn’t really keen on picking it up, it didn’t seem to interest me. However while out at EBGames I thought what the heck, and came home and bought it on Origin. Most of my EA Games are on there simply because it’s nice to be able to download them again without worrying about the disks. Anyhow.

I installed Supernatural and right away decided I would start a new family. You have a choice of new races, you can create as a human, witch, zombie, werewolf, fairy, or ghost. I created a fairy, you get wings. You also have ‘mana’ to cast spells. You can learn new things like alchemy; if you’re a witch you get a wand and ride a broom (or a vacuum if you rather). Before I knew it three am had passed and I was still playing. The expansion is actually a LOT of fun, and I’m really glad I picked it up. There’s a new lunar cycle and when the moon is full magic is high. Werewolves transform from their human forms and zombies come and meander around your yard, eating your garden (which I was none to pleased about, took me forever to clean up their dead plants). There are new jobs and professions along with the expansion, my fairy decided to become a fortune teller, and she worked out of a gypsy wagon in the woods.

I’ve set up my Sims 3 profile page, I noticed you can send gifts to friends, so if you’re looking for someone to add to friends please feel free. You can find the profile here: Stargrace.

Seasons comes out soon. I think in a day or two. It astounds me just how many Sims 3 expansions there are this year. Not even three months since Supernatural released. It’s hard to keep up with them all and there are still a few I’m missing as well as stuff packs. I didn’t bother getting Showtime, or Sweet Treats, and Diesel Stuff. Fast Lane was another stuffs pack that hasn’t grabbed my attention, my sims rarely ever purchase vehicles. Seasons is going to add yet another dimension to the game with weather patterns and holidays. I haven’t decided if I am going to get it yet, mostly because there’s an EQ1 and EQ2 expansion releasing this month and Christmas just around the corner. In an ideal world I’d get it though. We’ll just have to see!

As always, happy gaming, no matter where you find yourself.
